Welcome

About Us

Safehaven has existed for over two decades for one purpose. Safehaven is dedicated to the special needs of multiply disabled children with complex medical needs. At Safehaven, every child matters.

Mission

To provide exceptional residential and respite care to help families whose children have complex physical and developmental disabilities.

Statement of Purpose

  • To provide residential and respite care options to children and youth who have multiple disabilities and complex medical needs
  • To ensure that children and youth who have multiple disabilities and complex medical needs have ample opportunity for personal growth and education to the full extent of their capabilities
  • To provide the best quality of life possible for children and youth who have multiple disabilities and complex medical needs
  • To promote and support the integration of children and youth who have multiple disabilities and complex medical needs into the life of their communities
  • To provide services in a manner that respects and supports the diversity that exists in the communities served. Diversity doesn't only refer to race and ethnicity, but to the entire spectrum of human identity. While the community may be relatively the same in terms of race or ethnicity (i.e. Aboriginal, French etc.) there are other distinct social groups whose needs must be taken into consideration when delivering services, such as: gays and lesbians, people of different religious beliefs, people of different socio-economic levels or people with disabilities
  • To provide early assessment, planning and decision making that takes into consideration the participation of the child/youth's relatives and members of the child/youth's community, as well as the child/youth's heritage, tradition and culture, will occur

Our Brand & Promise

Safehaven does have a unique distinction that has branded our model of care for more than 20 years of operation in the Greater Toronto Area. It's not about a logo although the Safehaven heart speaks to the brand recognition of heart-felt care. It's not about a slogan. When families of multiply disabled children with complex medical needs see the Safehaven brand identity it is their association of that name and look with a promise of unparalleled care that gives Safehaven special mind and heart share among those served.
