Volunteer Opportunities
Do you have some free time that you’d like to fill with something meaningful? Would you like to bring more joy and value to your day-to-day routine? When you volunteer with Safehaven you will have the opportunity to directly engage with the children and young adults in our care.
We have plenty of opportunities for you to lend your time and talents to help our clients and their families live exceptional lives!
We understand that everybody has different time constraints and that schedules often change, so we welcome both short-term and long-term volunteer commitments.
Regular Volunteering
For individuals looking to regularly volunteer over an extended period of time, we offer recreational volunteer opportunities. You can support our recreational staff in activities such as crafts, baking, reading and painting with clients. We may visit the ROM, go for a swim, participate in music therapy, read a book, go to a Blue Jays game and so much more! It is such a fun and fulfilling way to spend a day.
Occasional Volunteering
For those looking to commit a few hours to volunteering with Safehaven on an as-needed basis, occasional volunteering is for you. When we have internal or community events, outings for clients or need extra support for the day, you’ll be the first person we reach out to! This flexible volunteering option gives you the ability to support our cause on an ad-hoc basis without a set time commitment.
Requirements
In order to ensure the health and safety of our clients and staff, all volunteers are required to provide Safehaven with:
- A valid police check, including a vulnerable sector screening for individuals eighteen years of age or older. Your local police service can provide this for you. If your home address is in Toronto, please contact us and we will provide you with the form you need to submit to Toronto Police Services. This process needs to be completed before you can start volunteering.
- Proof of immunization for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox. We will provide you with a form that you can take to your family physician to fill out and sign..
If creating a more inclusive world sparks something in you, then we would love to connect. To apply for any of our volunteer roles, please fill in the form below.
