Become a Volunteer

Welcome!

We are thrilled that you are interested in joining our family of volunteers!

At Safehaven, our mission is to provide high-quality, family-centered and community-based residential and respite care for individuals with complex care needs. As we look to the future, our goal is to provide a client and family-centered, seamless and coordinated transition of care from childhood through to adulthood.

Individual Opportunities

Do you have some free time that you’d like to fill with something meaningful? Would you like to bring more joy and value to your day-to-day routine?

We have plenty of opportunities for you to lend your time and talents to help our clients and their families live exceptional lives!

When you volunteer with Safehaven you will have the opportunity to directly engage with the children and young adults in our care. We may visit the ROM, go for a swim, participate in music therapy, read a book, go to a Blue Jays game and so much more! It is such a fun and fulfilling way to spend a day.

OR, are you thinking about becoming a social worker ? A nurse ?  A personal support worker?

The opportunities at Safehaven to engage with our clients and families will help you gain practical experience while pursuing your degree or certificate. We welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further.

We also offer administrative volunteer opportunities at Safehaven; there are roles for almost everyone!

Commitment

We understand that everybody has different time constraints and that schedules often change, so we welcome both short-term and long-term volunteer commitments.

Requirements

In order to ensure the health and safety of our clients and staff, all volunteers are required to provide Safehaven with:

  • A valid police check, including a vulnerable sector screening for individuals eighteen years of age or older
  • Proof of immunization for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox and results of a 2 step TB test

 Join us!

If being a critical part of helping children with complex care needs live exceptional lives sparks something in you, then we would love to connect. To apply for any of our volunteer roles, please fill in the form below and we will be in touch within 48-72 hours.

We cannot wait to meet you!

Corporate Opportunities

We welcome corporate partnerships, too!

Would your company enjoy the opportunity for team-building, while giving back to the community? Then, let’s work together!

Our corporate partners have worked with us in one-day events and longer-term projects. We have built gardens, painted, cooked together, and so much more.
